VCMI

VCMI is an open-source recreation of the Heroes of Might and Magic III engine, which will allow you to enjoy one of the most beloved turn-based strategy games in history with tons of improvements and extra possibilities. Improvements to the interface, more screen resolution options, support for mods, and much more. This is the perfect tool for fans of the HoMM saga.

Easy to install and set up

To use VCMI, you'll need the original HoMM 3 files. With this in mind, the first step is to install the program. Once installed, you'll have to run VCMI_launcher.exe and from there choose the option that suits you most. If you already have Heroes of Might and Magic III installed on your PC, you can choose that option by simply selecting the correct directory. If you don't, a highly recommended option is to use GOG's offline installer. Whichever option you choose, the launcher will take care of everything. Once finished, you'll be able to play easily.

Many setup options

One of the great advantages of using VCMI with respect to the original game is that you can access loads of configuration options from the launcher. You can choose to enable autosave and how many slots you want to have at the same time. Of course, you can also adjust the game's resolution as you like and even apply scaling filters. You can even choose between different types of AI for AI-controlled enemies.

Dozens of mods to enhance the game

In addition to the game options, you'll also find a tab full of mods in the launcher. Here, you can download and install any mod with just a click. There are mods that allow you to increase the game's maximum difficulty even more, others that add new settings or monsters, and still more mods that add improvements to the graphics, new hero portraits, and much more. In short, you can customize your gaming experience to the max.

Play online, solo or the Hot Seat

As in HoMM 3, in VCMI you can play online with your friends, solo in the campaign mode or in any of the many pre-generated settings. The choice is yours. The game comes with dozens of settings ready for you to play the way you want. One of the most fun game modes, of course, remains the traditional Hot Seat. This is the game mode where two or more friends can play simultaneously on the same PC.

Download VCMI and enjoy the classic HoMM 3 once more, as it deserves. Remember, however, that you'll need the original game files to complete its installation. Once you have it perfectly set up, you'll have hundreds and hundreds of hours worth of entertainment.
